We are deeply saddened by the loss of Arlene Schnitzer, our founder and inspiration, who passed away on Saturday at the age of 91.

A beloved philanthropist known throughout the Portland area, Arlene woke up every day and worked hard to make the world a better place. Her contributions transformed the local community and her impact will be felt for many generations to come.

Arlene’s legacy carries on in a very special way through CommuniCare. Her belief in the power of young people, along with her commitment to building a strong and vibrant community, are infused in every aspect of the program.

We are honored to celebrate her keen eye, quick wit, and unending compassion - and we hold her in our hearts forever.
